My fears

I've found that I have some very specific... strange fears, that stop me from doing every day things. I'm not sure if they are logical or not, but I shall list them, for your reading entertainment...
  • Going on a train, just in case the train doors don't open
  • Going in a train tunnel
  • Going in ANY lift
  • Going in an underground car tunnel
  • Getting in a car
  • Riding in the back of a bus
  • Sleeping with no lights on
  • Sleeping in a tent
  • Sleeping without a blanket
  • Going anywhere further than walking distance from my house
  • Storms
  • Being in a place with no phone signal
Most of things should be a part of my day to day life, but I will do ANYTHING to make sure that I never have to go through any of them. It affects my life a lot really, but I can live with it. My university is about half an hours walk away... I don't have any work yet and my family always come to visit me (they're an hours express train ride away). But I'm starting to see if affect even my relationship. I can't go out at night to the party district (not that thats my scene anyway), I can't go adventuring through mountains like I used to... Everything is based above my above fears. For some reason, I'm ok with going through underground Bus tunnels, as long as I'm at the front of the bus... I'm also ok with glass lifts.

Does anyone else have these kinds of fears? Is it just me?

  1. I have a fear of paper towels. More like OCD.

But I fucking hate paper towels.

  2. Worst fear in life is spiders. I can stand centipedes but not spiders. Oh yeah and heights.

  3. Heights. Whenever I am a good 25+ feet above what I'm looking down at, I feel drawn to the bottom. It's as if my body goes on auto-pilot and slowly tries to throw itself over the edge. It creeps the heck out of me.

  4. Sounds like Claustrophobia for most of them,

I'm with you in the 'sleeping without a blanket' thing. It's not a fear though, but more of a discomfort... (ie, I won't sleep).

  6. Some of them is a matter of psychology. If I were you I would try to stop them. You will feel very proud for achieving something simple like this.

  7. sounds like a general anxiety disorder, seeing that the symptoms are both claustrophobia and agoraphobia. I would recommend u to do all the stuff u avoid as much as possible, that will be the only way to overcome it. Pills won't help (much) and they have really annoying side effects. U should also do alot of sports, so there's always plenty of oxygen running to your brain, this will calm u down at most times.

  9. Seems to be mostly claustrophobia and agoraphobia. I guess they are pretty common phobias.

  10. Wow, lots of random fears, you should try and break of one everyday. Obviously you can't be going on trains and planes every other week. But you could start with the little ones and make it your goal to take a train/plane for your next trip.

  15. My fear was always being unemployed, but now that I am I'm ok with it. I tend to drive myself nuts around the house, but looking for work and doing this helps keep me busy till I find a new job.
